These Terms & Conditions apply to the use of the Recover Psychology website and to enquiries, bookings and services provided by Recover Psychology.
By using this website, making an enquiry, or booking an appointment, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
1. About Recover Psychology
Recover Psychology provides psychological services in Victoria, Australia, including in-person and telehealth appointments.
Services may include psychological support for alcohol and other drug concerns, recovery planning, relapse prevention, behavioural addictions, stress, emotional wellbeing and related concerns.
2. General information only
The information on this website is provided for general information purposes only. It is not a substitute for personalised assessment, diagnosis, treatment, crisis support, emergency care, legal advice or medical advice.
Reading information on this website does not create a psychologist-client relationship.
A psychologist-client relationship is only formed once an appointment has been accepted and the appropriate consent, intake and practice processes have been completed.
3. Suitability of services
Recover Psychology may not be suitable for every person or every situation.
Following an enquiry or initial appointment, Recover Psychology may determine that the service is not appropriate for a person’s needs, risk level, location, presentation, age, legal circumstances or requested service.
Where appropriate, alternative services or referral options may be suggested. Recover Psychology is not responsible for the availability, quality or suitability of external services.
4. Crisis and emergency support
Recover Psychology is not an emergency or crisis service.
The website, enquiry forms, email, phone messages and social media channels are not monitored continuously and should not be used for urgent or crisis support.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 000.
For urgent mental health or crisis support, contact an appropriate crisis service, emergency department, GP, local mental health triage service, or a 24-hour support service such as Lifeline on 13 11 14.
5. Appointments
Appointments are subject to availability.
An appointment is not confirmed until Recover Psychology has accepted the booking and confirmed the appointment details.
Appointment times, locations, formats and availability may change. Recover Psychology will take reasonable steps to notify clients of any changes.
6. Telehealth
Telehealth appointments require the client to have access to a private and safe location, a reliable internet or phone connection, and suitable technology.
Clients are responsible for ensuring that they are in a location where they can speak privately and safely.
Telehealth may not be appropriate for all situations. Recover Psychology may recommend in-person support, GP involvement, crisis support, or another service where telehealth is not considered suitable.
7. Fees and payment
Fees are listed on the Recover Psychology website or provided at the time of booking.
Fees may change from time to time. Any change to fees will generally apply to future appointments and not to appointments already confirmed, unless otherwise agreed.
Payment is required at the time of appointment unless another arrangement has been agreed in advance.
Recover Psychology may require payment details, pre-payment, or payment on the day of service.
8. Medicare rebates
Medicare rebates may be available for eligible clients with a valid referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan from a GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician.
Eligibility for Medicare rebates depends on Medicare requirements and the client’s individual circumstances.
Clients are responsible for obtaining and providing a valid referral before claiming any Medicare rebate.
Recover Psychology cannot guarantee Medicare eligibility, rebate amounts, or Medicare processing outcomes.
9. Cancellation and non-attendance
Recover Psychology may charge a cancellation or non-attendance fee where an appointment is cancelled late or the client does not attend.
The cancellation policy and any applicable fees will be provided before or at the time of booking.
Cancellation fees are generally not claimable through Medicare, private health insurance or third-party funders.
10. Third-party funding
Some appointments may involve third-party funding, such as WorkSafe, TAC, DVA, NDIS, employer-funded services, rehabilitation services or other organisations.
Where a third party is involved, clients remain responsible for understanding what the third party has agreed to fund and what costs may remain payable by the client.
Recover Psychology may need to provide information to third-party funders where required for funding, reporting, invoicing, treatment planning or legal purposes, subject to consent and applicable legal and professional obligations.
11. Reports, letters and documents
Reports, letters, treatment summaries, court-related documents, insurer documents or other written material are not included in standard appointment fees unless specifically stated.
Additional fees may apply for report writing, letters, file review, liaison, case conferences, legal requests, subpoena responses, administrative tasks, or time spent preparing documents.
Recover Psychology may decline to provide a report or letter where it is outside the scope of the service, clinically inappropriate, legally inappropriate, or not supported by sufficient assessment information.
12. Communication
Recover Psychology may communicate with clients by phone, email, SMS, online booking systems or other agreed methods.
Email and SMS are convenient but may not be fully secure. Clients should avoid sending highly sensitive information by email or SMS unless they accept this risk.
Recover Psychology does not provide therapy, crisis support or urgent clinical advice through social media, SMS, email or website forms.
13. Social media
Recover Psychology may maintain social media pages for general information and practice updates.
Social media is not an appropriate channel for clinical communication, urgent support, private health information or therapy.
Comments, messages or interactions on social media do not create a psychologist-client relationship.
Recover Psychology may remove comments or content that is inappropriate, misleading, confidential, promotional, offensive, or inconsistent with professional and legal obligations.
14. Outcomes and no guarantees
Psychological therapy can be helpful, but outcomes vary between people.
Recover Psychology does not guarantee any particular outcome, result, diagnosis, recovery timeline, legal outcome, employment outcome, compensation outcome or health improvement.
