Stuart Clark
MPsych(Prof), BPsych(Hons)
Stuart is a registered psychologist (AHPRA: PSY0002598977) with a strong background in alcohol and other drug (AOD) treatment and co-occurring mental health concerns.
He has worked across hospital and community settings, including telephone and online counselling services and multidisciplinary AOD and mental health teams. His experience includes roles within specialist AOD services and clinical placements across a range of treatment contexts.
Stuart’s approach to therapy is shaped by both formal psychological training and lived experience of addiction and long-term recovery. This perspective informs a respectful, non-judgemental way of working, particularly with people who may have felt misunderstood, disengaged, or uncertain about change.
Sessions are practical, collaborative, and person-centred. Stuart works with clients to understand patterns of behaviour, build coping strategies, and support sustainable change in a way that fits each individual’s values, circumstances, and pace.
His work draws on evidence-based approaches commonly used in AOD and mental health care, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, and harm-reduction-informed support.
Recover Psychology is growing.
More clinicians will be joining soon.
